Introduction to Descent

Descent launched in 1995 and shook up the shooter scene. The game let players float in zero gravity. It showed full three dimensional space with walls above and beneath your feet. You climb shafts and use sudden drops to break enemy aim. Your ship gets you inside locked down bunkers. It scours every dark corner for hidden reactors.

The campaign runs across thirty challenging levels. Pickups let you beef up a beam weapon. Other finds load heavy bombs for armored drones. Enemy bots adapt their fire to keep you on your toes. You face off against a rival in one on one combat. Squad missions add fresh twists that keep you coming back.

Narrow spaces trap you between walls. Lights flicker overhead and shadows crawl along rough rock. This vibe sparked new space shooters everywhere. Gamers still fire up the original to hunt secret paths and mods. Remakes and fresh sequels unlock those caves for a new crowd.
